John Wells' career is going nowhere. Nowhere, that is, until a newspaper from the future arrives at his doorstep. With the aid of the paper, he climbs the corporate ladder, wins the lottery, and buys a nice house in the suburbs. He finds himself strangely attracted to the scenes of headline tragedies, and is joined by one or two others who have been graced by the same newspaper. Then one day while observing a robbery taking place, John becomes the front page headline when a steel girder falls from a construction site and lands on top of him. The trick, one enlightened observer comments, is to read the `whole' paper.
